Revised Baby shark song (+ concepts & language teaching tips)

Here are some alternative lyrics to this popular song. Sing it slower to fit in these fantastic 3-4 year old (fast/ slow) concepts, past tense (swam) and a complex sentence structure instead of the 'do-do-do-do, baby shark' lyrics'.

Language teaching tips

  • To teach a complex sentence, replace the last line in each verse with 'to catch fish!"

  • For more learning opportunities of concepts and vocabulary items within this ocean theme, add ocean themed toys, finger puppets, books or toy fish (e.g. bath toys).

  • When your child makes a comment about the song, repeat what they say and add to it with additional language. In this way they learn to use longer sentences (Jason: a shark, Mum: Yes a shark catches the fish).
